Can I connect my SPCS phone, a LG VI5225, to my credit card machine?
If so what do I need? I can then I can get rid of my QWest LL

Or can you recommend a phone that will be able to be able to be connected?

Thanks

Graham,

AFAIK, this hasn't been asked before. I don't know your phone model, but I'm
guessing it can't be hooked up, as your credit card machine is programmed a
data number, and not a web address.

Bob - I'd say that Graham's phone is a LG VI5225.

Anyway, Graham, if the credit card machine only has an RJ-11 connection
for an analog landline and dials to a modem at the credit card service,
then I know of no current gadget that provides dialtone for it from a
cellphone AND can handle the analog modem it requires. There are
gadgets that let you hook up multiple home phones to your cell phone
(e.g. Cellsocket) but I doubt they'd pass the modem tones well enough,
as Steven DenBeste used to tell us.

If the credit card machine has a DB9 serial connection, then maybe you
could hook it up to an old SPCS Wireless Web phone, such as a Samsung
A460 or 8500 or 3500 and dial out.

check out www.cellsocket.com and those devices are used to hook up your cell
phone up to standard phone just like a land line in your home.... and then
it should work on your credit card machine..

Well, here's a link to Steven DenBeste's info on why the cellsocket
probably doesn't work with data:
http://denbeste.nu/cdmafaq/modem.shtml

And here's a link from Cellsocket on why it definitely doesn't work with
data:
http://www.cellsocket.com/docs/Wont_work_with_Data.pdf

And here's another company that sells a similar adapter
http://www.telular.com/telguard/index.asp
This is used for an alarm system when a landline is cut or not
available. Probably not what you're looking for.
