Can laptop screen be swapped with a TV or monitor screen

Do you know the pinout of the original laptop screen?
Do you know the pinout of the "donor" screen?
Do they match? Can you make requuired adaptor?

It will be much easier to find the laptop screen as spare part (there are many sites selling these) then to reinvent the wheel.

Your other option is to use external monitor / TV as secondary laptop screen, and switch them blind.
