Can we use 6.1 speaker systems on 5.1 sound card?

I've creative sound Blaster 5.1 vx (sound card), does it supports 6.1 channel speakers?
[Processor-Intel Core 2 Duo,Graphics card-ASUS nVIDIA Geforce GT 610,Ram-4GB DDR2].Also can we use 7.1 surround speaker system in 5.1 sound card?

It don't support the 6.1 speakers, but you can use the 6.1 or 7.1 speakers system without the rear channel speakers because the 5.1 sound card limits speaker out connectors.

But I read in some website that Creative t6160 {6.1 channel speakers} is supported in 5.1 sound card, Is it true?

When you go to Creative website, you can see the Creative t6160 is the 5.1 Desktop Speaker System for Gaming.

And the 6.1 channel speakers is the same as the 5.1 system, except an additional rear center channel speaker for sound effects.

I don't use those speakers, but I found some reviews from online for 2012. Look like the 6160 is on the list.
