I currently bought the sims 4 and I was wondering if I could play it on a Lenovo ThinkPad X131. I was planning on getting that laptop. Would it work on there?

I would not buy the ThinkPad X131. It has a AMD E series APU (E, E1, and E2) which are considered to be extremely weak even when they were new.
Probably more than you were looking to spend since you were considering the ThinkPad X131, but I recommend the following Acer laptop with an i3-8130u for $380. It should be able to run the Sims 4 with good performance at 1080p resolution and low graphic settings. Of course you can play around with lowering the resolution and increasing the graphic settings to determine what works best for you.
