Can you remove Touchless Control on a Moto X?

So, title. I'm looking for a new phone. Also, if it can be removed, does this mean the mic isn't going to be always on?
And should I go with a Nexus 5 instead?

If like my Samsung phone, the feature can be disabled in your phone's settings. Should be very straight forward and easy to do. Other functionality will be unaffected.
