Cannot buy a game with a Xbox gift voucher

Hi, I have recently put a £25 voucher onto my Xbox account with the intention of purchasing Red Dead Redemption for my Xbox One. However, when I tried to buy the game, I couldn't select the voucher as a payment option, only a credit card. What am I doing wrong?

You mean you redeem them on your account already? then you should have a balance and just need to use it.

the code has been redeemed but I just can't use it

then pick credit card, the balance is in your account already, it will only take money from the credit card if you spend more then $25. Just read the screen

Well that's a daft system. Why do I HAVE to link up a credit card when there's a perfectly good voucher THAT I PAID FOR ALREADY in my account??? Steam doesn't do this to me so why does microsoft have to be awkward about it?

Anyway, rant over, none of it aimed at you. Are you sure there's no other way?

Because it's a 360 game not Xbox one.

You can't use account credit for 360 bc games on xbox one store or from the website on pc.
Madness I know but it's always been the same.

Only way you can buy them with credit is on an actual Xbox 360.
