depends on which class of camera you are looking at. you can't really go wrong with canon's though

Fujifilm FinePix XP60 16MP Waterproof Digital or Canon PowerShot SX260HS 12.1MP Digital Camera

I'd be more inclined to go with the Canon, it's better at macro shots and handles indoor lighting better than the (autofocus is not so good indoor) Fuji

There is no such thing as the best brand.
You can compare the two from dpreview reports. Unfortunately the Fuji model is a newer camera and is not reviewed yet.
