Can't install Windows 10 with a broken laptop screen.

I cannot upgrade my laptop from windows 7 to windows 10 as when I install it, after the 2-3rd restart (around 10% done) my external monitor turns off and turns on my laptop screen which is broken. after this I cannot continue with the install as i cant see the screen. i have tried leaving it with the screen on to see if its the drivers. This didnt work. I have tried with both VGA and HDMI. As the year free upgrade is coming to an end i want to upgrade beofre it costs.

Most laptops have a function key that will force the internal only, external only, internal+external settings. Have you tried forcing the external connection?

Most sensible thing to do is to get the laptop screen replaced.

one of the function keys will have an icon resembling the screen - FN + said function key will switch to external monitor

Or you can remove the screen altogether so it is not detected at all.

This laptop is not worth repairing. Its over 5 years old and was bad at that point. (i3 2310m 4gb ram) I have tried the button to change the screen and nothing happened.

Then your only option is to remove the screen.
