Solved! can't see second screen

I can't get my laptop (Dell Inspiron 15 5555) to recognize my second screen (AOC 2429W). It works under Linux (ubuntu 16.04 LTS) , but not under windows 8.1. I know it's a driver problem, but I can't even get my computer to look for a second screen. I've got the driver installed under "monitor" in Display. I've tried to update the display adapter, but it says I've got the most up to date, and it can't detect another screen.

Any Ideas?

Windows key (between ctrl and alt on left side of keyboard) and P key together it should pop up to select Duplicate, extend etc.

What driver is it showing you under the video card? Is it just some generic VGA driver or the actual driver for your system?
