IMHO it means HP/Compaq are gone very soon.
HP Compaq will follow in IBMs footsteps, a
comapny from China will buy them out or
maybe a Dell will buy the out.

Either way, why would anyone in the right mind
want to be HP CEO? The board bascially said,
you're doing a fantastic job, but you're fired anyways.

The Board of Directors for HP want to turn the
clock back to the days of yesteryear when
xxxx corporation would plunk down $2.5
milion for a mainframe like a Dec Vax 11/780.
Now that same corporation would say we'll outsource someone in India or
our workers
will make due on the Celeron computers they
currently have on their desk.

The business environment has changed since
9/11, HP hasn't grasped that yet.

IMHO HPs days are numbered.

IMHO, if HP will start focusing on printers and innovation it may just turn
the tide, depsite dell forcing lower ink prices - the most profitable part
of the current printing business. Ipaqs are cool and hope they keep up the
effort, but is a very minor part of their business and will not at this time
bail the company out of its trouble.

After all, HPs great rep from earler products still carries them, they
should captilize on this. Not build HD screens and such.

The thing that is probably doing more to kill HP is the guy who
figured out how to make a kit that you sell at Wal-Mart for $29.00
that lets you fill your own ink cartridge instead of paying $89.00
to buy one from HP.

Or the people who have figured out that instead of buying HP paper
you can get Staples paper for about half the price.
