I have this old cassette tape recorder that has a set of stereo inputs for mikes, and records the my instruments very clearly and much to my satisfaction. The problem is that when i take that tape from the recorder to play it on my stereo tape deck, it sounds as if the tape is playing only slightly slower, like its playing it in another key or something. If i play it back on the recorder it sounds just fine. Is one of my players too fast or too slow or is my recorder got some more specific internal issues? By the way it is a very old tape recorder.

One of your machines is off speed. Try playing a prerecorded cassette on each. The one that sounds wrong is the bad one. This may be serviceable if parts are available and the price makes sense.
