Hello. I am in the market for an inexpensive notebook to work on my dissertation (MS Office and SPSS for starters) and do daily tasks such as browse the web, check email, and so forth. The only caveat is that when I browse the web (Chrome), I have lots of tabs open at one time - especially when doing research.

That said, I have two options, which are as follows:

HP 13.3" ProBook 430 G4
1.8 GHz Intel Celeron 3865U Dual-Core
4GB of DDR4 RAM | 64GB M.2 SATA SSD
Integrated Intel HD Graphics 610
$250

Note that I plan on upgrading RAM to 16GB and storage to 128GB or 250GB SSD - Will this make a difference being that this unit uses a Celeron 3865U?

Lenovo ThinkPad Yoga 12.5"
1.7 GHz Intel Core i3-4010U (Haswell)
4GB of 1600 MHz DDR3L RAM
500GB 5400 rpm HDD + 16GB SSD
Integrated Intel HD Graphics 4400
$350

How would these two notebooks compare in performance and for my needs? Any advice will be appreciated!

Solution
More RAM is more of a necessity than better grade CPU for that. If you have a lot of tabs in Chrome, it's very easy for it to go through 4GB of RAM.
