Also, as a reminder...

Sony has some of the *worst* after-the-sale-support
in the current market.

Take your SPAM to a place that cares... Come to think
of it, good luck finding one!

Hi Notan,

We provide our own support via our own support site and are planning to
improve it throughout the year so we can also provide spare parts, repairs
and realtime support (via forums, webcams, VoIP and more), so yes I agree
that Sony's own service isn't entirely good but the laptops are and we take
care of our customers throughout the life of their VAIO.

Thanks

Euan.

Two things:

1) What do you do, in the case of Sony charging exorbitant prices
for replacement parts?

2) "throughout the life of their VAIO"... I've always gotten a kick
out of the term, "lifetime warranty." I saw a sign, quite some time
ago, at a pet store. It was above the fish tanks and in big, bold
letters, said, "Lifetime warranty." Just below, in very small letters,
it said, "When the fish dies, the warranty is up." <g>

Hi Notan,

There is nothing we can do about Sony's pricing policy on spare parts as we
can't dictate to Sony on how they should run their business. We plan to
source parts independently and offer our customers repairs at reduced
costs...this is currently underway.

We will also (and currently do) offer our own warranties with faster
turnaround times on repairs than Sony and plan to improve this to offer a
2yr standard warranty on all our VAIOs (Sony in UK is only 1yr).

"throughout the life of their VAIO" is from point of sale with us until the
VAIO is upgraded or when our customer chooses to sell their VAIO on...we
also liase with Sony on behalf of our customers to organise any repairs (if
needed) and through our support site help maintain the system with updates,
patches and FAQs etc.

Thanks again

Euan.
