Changing "SATA Mode" option from AHCI to ATA

How do I change "SATA Mode" option from AHCI to ATA.
My PC is a HP laptop pavilion dv3

Why would you want to do that?

I don't know if it's the case with Windows 7, but I believe that XP would require a reinstall if you changed the SATA mode to or from AHCI.

I dont think you can. had hp but tried to install xp on it, so tried to change SATA mode. Can't find option for it
