what do i use? well if i need a really cheap pair of in ears....

i like the gummy brand in-ear headphones since they are cheap and since they get gunked up i can replace them every other month. they arent really the best sounding but perfectly fine for the gym.

the ipod headphones are a bit better sounding but are more costly so i cannot just replace them as often.

for over the ear headphone listening at home or on the go i use a decent pair which you can get for about $100. there is no comparision.

they are stereo only.

any stereo headset is capable of 3d sound if using "virtual surround" from software on your computer. without the software its just going to sound stereo.

as far as having multiple drivers for "true (and its used loosely as even multi-driver headsets arent true surround!) surround" no, in ears do not. and likely any over ears in your budget do not either.
