I bought a cheap off brand generic dell charger off amazon, and everything was gonna work fine until i got a message telling me the charger didn't have adequate wattage. The laptop is informing me it is plugged in but wont charge using the one i bought. Is there any way I can allow the battery to charge even with the one i bought.

No way.

The charging circuit requires that the plug has enough energy necessary, there is no way to boost it. Do you know how much wattage does it requires? It should be printed on the original plug.

whats strange is that they both say they have 19.5 volts but the one i have wont charge. I also get a message saying that the battery requires 65 watts to charge, but my charger is 65 watts.

Actually I find it a little odd Dell would force you to buy a certain wattage charger. Typically with a lower wattage charger (within reason), the battery simply charges at a slower rate. Wonder if Dell's charger is of a proprietary (must buy from us!) design.
