Hey there:
I am looking for suggestions on a cheap laptop for Android app development. I'd prefer it not to be a Macbook. Netbook would be ideal but I have heard that android emulator is cpu intensive and Im not sure that would cut it.
1. What is your budget?
Sub $400 preferrable
2. What is the size of the notebook that you are considering?
I don't mind, really but Id like it to be as portable as possible.
3. What screen resolution do you want?
Any
4. Do you need a portable or desktop replacement laptop?
5. How much battery life do you need?
None as I will usually be having it plugged in but more is always a plus.
6. Do you want to play games with your laptop? If so then please list the games that you want to with the settings that you want for these games. (Low,Medium or High)?
No gaming / older games (Baldur's Gate) or lightweight games (FTL)
7. What other tasks do you want to do with your laptop? (Photo/Video editing, Etc.)
Android application development / software development
8. How much storage (Hard Drive capacity) do you need?
100gb should be plenty, 60 at the min for Eclipse and ADK
9. If you are considering specific sites to buy from, please post their links.
Newegg or Amazon though I am open to suggestions
10. How long do you want to keep your laptop?
1-2 years
11. What kind of Optical drive do you need? DVD ROM/Writer,Bluray ROM/Writer,Etc ?
No CD/DVD rom necessary. USB 3 preferred though not a dealbreaker.
12. Please tell us about the brands that you prefer to buy from them and the brands that you don't like and explain the reasons.
I like ASUS
13. What country do you live in?
US
14. Please tell us any additional information if needed.
It will be for schoolwork and software development. I want to focus on android app development.
