If that's from the 80s it's the late 80s. We had one of the last //c variants in my high school art department. That would make this thing an early platform for NewtonOS.

Also keep in mind that that isn't a color screen, but a grayscale one. Also, the screen has a glare on it, and the early Apple touch devices all had a resistive touch screen which had a dull finish. If this is real, it wasn't used in any capacity, it was just a pie-in-the-sky design mockup.

[citation][nom]ohim[/nom]"A quick look around the room in a restaurant will reveal quite a few people with smartphone devices, many of which might be an iPhone." You wanted to say an android phone since Android activated devices are way more than IOS .[/citation]

Actually Android devices are no where near the level that iOS devices are. They may be activating at a higher rate these days but they started so far behind that it will take nearly another year for them to catch up to and pass iOS devices activated.

A few months back when Google announced they had activated 100 million devices (all types combined) Apple was hitting 100 million iPhones alone and approaching 200 million iOS devices.

This is very much a complete fake and outright lie. Nice try apply fanboy, photoshopped on a PC.

I would buy an iPhone if they looked like this and performed as good as current phones (and in color). I don't care how '80s' it looks, I just want a big phone for my big claws.

dheadley: Are you seriously high? Apple's market share is no where near Android. According to June reports it still isn't even ahead of RIM (Blackberry). Please get your facts straight. Android is gobbling RIM's share like crazy and Apple hasn't moved in two years.

Wow!!! Did this bring back memories!
It seems that even back then they were stealing other companies ideas ;-)
For those that do not know, this is a plausable device.
The phone is actually sitting on an acoustic coupler (aka modem), but better couplers existed back then for the conventional handsets so you would not have to put up with that dreaded noise! So on that part, I call it either fake or terrible on comm speed due to being an open design! The standards back then were 300baud rate or 110/75! yes, the last versions of modems that are still being made are 56k. The only other thing I can think of, is if it was just a plain "resting" place for the handset, and as soon as you lifted it, the modem would disconnect (uncommon back then).
Second, that screen is very similar to an Epson laptop... that had a small lcd display, if only I could remember the name. Ah, found it here, it was the HX-20:

That was a dream to work with :) I actually seen some in real life, and going strong even in 2001... due to support, lolz.

Next, they will claim the rights aka patents of what Atari did back in the early 80's, of which you could connect a headband on your head and dependent on your facial/ head expression, you could use that instead of a joystick!

I do not recall that much the stylos back then, but then my memory is not 110% either :p

[citation][nom]f-14[/nom]watch next apple is going to claim patent rights over the stylus based on this fake 1983 product and sue every one even star trek from 1960's over patent rights.[/citation]
Don't you know by now, its not the person who came up with an idea that gets credit, its the person who patented it.....which is generally rotten Apple.

[citation][nom]bucknutty[/nom]people in the 80s must have had good eye sight to read that little black on grey screen.[/citation]
Yeah..that was before the internet porn was invented...we all know wacking off causes blindness so ever since the mid 90's we see huge reduction in eye sight.

[citation][nom]lamorpa[/nom]Getting back to the topic at hand, do you have 20/20 vision?[/citation]Nope, but I can provide irrelevant information. I have no idea how good my vision is because charts only go to 20/10. On a good day, my weaker eye is 20/10 and my good eye could probably pull off 20/8 if they put it on charts. So I'm not impressed with the guy above/s 20/12--which is my weak on on an off day.
