Good day,

I am currently planning to buy a laptop and have narrowed down my choices to three:
1. ASUS ROG STRIX GL502VS-WS71 15.6" Gaming Laptop - About $1,912
2. ASUS ROG STRIX GL702VS-DS74 17.3" Gaming Laptop - About $2,218
3. ASUS ROG G752VS-RB71 17.3" Gaming Laptop - About $1,834
All of these guys have GTX 1070 8GB and 16GB of RAM

I put in their prices which is somewhere along those figures as i am looking at a local shop. I am from the Philippines and pricing is a bit different so i converted it to U.S Dollars so you guys can get an idea of how far the pricing is.

My question is:
1. Would the difference of 15.6 to 17.3 inches be really huge? I dont mind carrying big bags or the weight either. I just wanna game. However the difference between choice 1 and 2 is around $300 and im only getting a bigger screen and an extra 256GB of SSD as boot drive. Is it worth it?

2. Im looking into getting choice 3 as this is the cheapest among them, still has decent SSD boot drive space (256GB), and has 17.3 inch screen. The only downside to this is that it has a Skylake processor unlike choice 1 and 2. Would the difference of the 6th and 7th generation CPU be that huge for me to not consider choice 3 at all?

I hope you guys can help me. Sorry if some of my questions and explanations are hard to understand as english is not my native language.

Solution
I'd go for #3. There's only about a 10% performance difference between the i7-6700hq and the i7-7700hq, if memory serves. Not worth $300 for a 10% difference, IMO.
Screen size is really a personal preference. I prefer the smaller screens - 13-14 inches. But I know many people like the bigger screens.

Go visit a computer store that has both 15.6" and 17.3" laptops, and look at them yourself. Then decide which you prefer.

Also, even though you say you don't mind bigger size or extra weight, keep in mind that you can always plug an external monitor into the laptop. So if you want a huge screen, you can get a 27" monitor for use at home. But still have a small portable laptop for when you travel.

That is a good point mate. The thing that is bothering me now is should I just go with Option 3? would taking the 6700HQ but me in the ass down the road for not getting the latest iteration of the i7s?

Honestly I really like the 3rd option. Personally, I prefer bigger screens for gaming but it is completely a personal preference as solandri said. So, the third and first seem fair enough!

The extra $300 dollars doesnt justify the jump for skylake to kaby lake doesn't it? I just dont want this to bite me in the ass in the future because I plan to game on that laptop for at least 5 years. May not be able to play at ultra settings but it can still do after 5 years me thinks.

Thank you kind sir. I'll take the 3rd option then.

You're welcome. The larger screen will be nice, too.
