Chrome Crashing Computer

Why does my chrome (and ONLY Chrome) make my computer shut down like a power failure?

HAH! I had this happen too, on an old AMD Phenom system.

I never did figure it out, drove me nuts. Tried PSU, RAM, Windows re-installation, removing graphics card...etc.

If you have AMD Cool N Quiet or Intel Speedstep enabled on your motherboard, disable it. Someone had a theory that capacitors were failing on the motherboard and it couldn't suddenly jump from one speed to another, but I never had the chance to test this out before I gave up on that computer.
