I am able to use my phone in Silver Lake, MN, where in the past with
an ATT phone, either I get no signal or roam. I was able to make and
recieve a call without any problems.

GSM coverage is available across the I-90 corridor in MN from T-Mobile
and Western Wireless, and near Rochester with . Western Wirless also
serves I-29 in ND and SD, and I-94 in ND, pretty much across the state.
From Dickinson, ND to Williston, ND seems to have pretty good
coverage, and Minot has its own little pocket of coverage.

Along the Canadian border, if necessary, Rogers provides fairly good
service. You are able to check your balance and minutes while roaming
on Rogers at no additional cost with a Cingular SIM (using *MIN# and
*BAL#).

I'm not sure if Unicel coverage is usable, as I had my GAIT phone set
for TDMA only when I was last in Unicel coverage areas (as Western
Wireless was just finishing its GSM overlay along the corridors).
Unicel has a GSM 1900 system from Fargo to Grand Forks and in the Sioux
Falls area.

With the exception of Canada, I've used data in the areas I've described
with a Cingular plan. However, I have an additional phone that
frequenty roams to Minot, Williston, and Canada, and all services are
reportedly working.

Hope this helps.
