Circuit City Plans to Liquidate

OH WELL, that's what happens when you have a bunch of assholes standing around not doing anything, and never helping you. I've never had a good experience at any CircuitCity I've been too. Theres never anyone in the section your at to help you, and if there is they dont even ask if you're finding everything alright. Nothing but a bunch of no good assholes. I do feel bad that out of those 34,000 employees, there were (not that I ever met any) good ones who I hate thing are going to be unemployed. But as far as CircuitCity going out of business. They got what they deserved. Same way those pieces of shit at COMPUSA never came to see if you needed any help unless you were dressed up, same with The GoodGuys. You treat you're customers like shit, like they need you when it's the other way around, you have the worst and stupidest employees standing around talking to eachother instead helping customers, and you start marking everything up, then you go out of business. Boo hoo for you assholes.

I've been blowign off the recession as "media hype", but I'm starting to take a second look. Things are not looking very good here.

What I can't believe is how many large companies are operating on such tight margins. It's greed people. When management wants to spend the company money for their personal pleasure and let the company have just enough to squeek by this happens. I'd probably be the same way though, it's my life and what do I care what happens to Circuit City? I'd spend all the company money too if I was an executive!

I usually have the opposite experience at Circuit City. I am usually asked by at least 5 sales people if I need any help. 99% of the time I'm just looking around killing time while my wife is at the pet store so it gets kind of annoying. At least most of them don't follow me around after I tell them I don't need any help; I HATE when sales people do that.

This is just what you expect of Circuit City having seen their prices on many of their items.

As of Saturday, they are discounting everything by 10% currently, up to 30% on cables and such. Even with this discount, the prices are nowhere near online sales options. The only purchases that should be made at these stores are ones you can't wait on shipping for and it's been that way for a long time. Sale ads consisting of normally priced items, just listed to show them off, won't net you sales with an educated consumer.

While I feel badly for the employees in this company who will be without jobs, I can't help but have seen this coming with the way they price their items.

Its not surprising to see this happen. When i go into Circuit City, Best Buy, etc.. prices are always way higher than if you buy the same thing online. Often i'll go into the store, check out a product, and then buy it from Amazon and save 25-50% .. I've been using this site to find some good deals online:

http://www.zingsale.com

It's a free service that tracks prices of products from online stores (like amazon) and sends you an email when the price drops.

this news was announced on the 16th, kinda late toms, should think of working on the weekends since i don't [work at all] -_-

and man that's alotta jobs, liquidation should continue through march, and that's when the best discounts are gonna hit... im planning on grabbing some real cheap stuff and reselling it, making a pretty profit, maybe i can break even with some new computer parts =]

I saw this coming last year. I've been into their store several times and found that everything was overpriced. Last time I went to CircuitCity looking for something specific. I was the only customer in the store(at peak hours) the employees and their general manager were standing around throwing a foam football around. They made a joke about it as I entered, and none of them offered me help to find anything. Like a previous poster I have only gone to CircuitCity when I couldn't wait for shipping. Sadly, due to prices , I have never purchased anything from them.

The consensus of the last article on Circuit City seemed to be that lower online pricing killed them. Also, all big box stores have higher prices in general versus online stores because of rental space overhead. Warehouses are much cheaper.

Honestly, all stores seem to have a mixed bag based on the staff they can hire. Also, I only buy full retail at a store if I must have something right a way or it is a book. Otherwise, I wait for the sale. Once in a while Best Buy or Circuit City will have an item at equal or lower cost than online - and if most people buy like me, then it is no surprise that they are hurting financially.

So, who wants to predict what store is next?

What bothers me is that people "don't" have any money to spend but as soon as you announce 10% off they are flocking to the store like crazy people. I work at circuit city and our store has been packed from open to close since Saturday with people buying all kinds of stuff. no money? blah!

I had good and bad services at a Circuit City, depending on the location. Their prices have much to be desired. I bought a 52" LCD HDTV from Amazon.com for over $1000 less than Circuit City's regular price, and $800 less than their Christmas sale price.

I can ship a TV back freight if it goes bad for less than $800.

I just feel bad for all the workers who did try to make things good there. They busted their hump to try and keep an antiquated brick of a business model afloat in the ocean of 21st century commerce. I hope the good people get jobs soon.
