[citation][nom]Minerva[/nom]Is it just me, or do you guys in the USA like to sue everyone for everything? :?[/citation]

'their products are absolute BS when you compare it hardware wise.'

Any idiot knows that you can't compare cross-brand chips such as AMD or Intel, or indeed Apples A'4 simply by looking at the Mhz. Most of learned that years ago. Whether or not the iphone hardware is faster or slower, the combination of the hardware and the software makes for a FAST user experience - as fast as on any other phone.

'if it didnt have the massive app library it would be like any of the hundreds of other touch phones. gah.'

But it DOES have the massive app library...

'apple doesnt care if you dont like it, they have your money and they dont care anymore'

Almost all of their sales are from existing customers. To say they don't care if people like it is beyond idiocy.

'no, no, go to starbucks with your double esspresso and scarf that you wear in the summer with your spikey hair in the front and cool hip sunglasses'

it sounds like you have serious issues with people who you feel inferior too. Get over your insecurities.

I've never owned an Apple product but I'm tempted to buy the Iphone4, safe in the knowledge that I have enough intelligence not to deliberately try to hold the phone in a way that loses signal. I am fully aware that it may make me look like a nob if I start showing it around in public - but I'm not getting it for the BAD image, I'm getting it because all the apps mean that it can do things other phones can't, and does so in a more user friendly way.

Your anti-Apple drivel is beyond pathetic.

So if the class action is successful (reasonably large 'if') the penalty to Apple would be - giving them all a phonecase (or an elastic band) for free?
It could be that the phone isn't fit for the purpose it's sold for in its current condition but, especially if people could just return the blasted things (no idea if they can or not), where is the damage/harm?

It's not the glitch which is irking me, it's Steve Jobs' frankly disgusting "Don't do it then" attitude towards the problem.

Has he forgotten who pays his bills? Ignorant waste of space

If the antenna is on the inside like most phones you still have trouble with tissue and water weakening the signal. This is true with any phone made! On my old phone with an antenna on the top you could put your hand around it and the phone would lose a few bars. The only reason this is more pronounced on newer phones is that they put out less power.

I bought my wife an iPhone 4 as an upgrade from her 3G and I couldn't replicate the problem but the signal strength was much improved over her 3G.

The half of you out there flaming have had this phone and can say with certainty there are issues and have been feeling more emo? I really think if you are going to flame, you should only do so if you own the product. Not because your friend's cousins' brother who live 5 states from you had a bad experience. Grow up and for godsakes people, it's ok to say APPLE and MICROSOFT in a blog. They are not going to ransack your mom's basement like a scientologist.

You're missing the point. I own an iPhone 3G and an iPod and intend to buy an iPhone 4 eventually, but I'm furious at Apple's attitude towards all of this. "Don't hold it there", and the even more gobsmacking "Buy the case accessory then" just does not cut the mustard. It's nothing short of appalling business practice from a company that knows it can do no wrong.

It's only unfortunate that a lot of people out there are entirely blind to what Apple are doing because they're too busy camping outside of Apple stores like the brainwashed morons they are.

Do you think that the entire world is impervious to marketing and publicity but the 'brainwashed morons' that buy Apple products?! Corporations invest millions in their image every year and we're bombarded with 'BUY this, buy that' commercials and posters and billboards every day. The vast majority of the population think this has no effect on them, but why do the companies invest in it if it doesn't work? The truth is that everyone falls victim to a marketing ploy from time to time.

[citation][nom]Ragnar-Kon[/nom]I'm sure if this lawsuit gets far enough in the legal system, then Apple will give in and ship the cases out.[/citation]

The problem here is that the lawyers are already in gear to fight the case. Apple won't change it's stance until the lawyers think it's a losing battle.

In the end I think the settlement will be under 20 million dollars for all iPhone owners for the first ~3 months and be less than $5 per claim filed. Proactively sending out cases would cost more than paying the claims even on a very high dollar settlement.

I owned the VZW Touch Pro2. The antenna is exactly where it should be on the top. If I hand the phone normally no reception issues. If I cover the top portion of the phone then the bars start to fade.

Antenna around the phone exactly where your hands would normally go is not indicative of forward thinking design.

One of my friends got an Iphone 4 on release date and the rumors are TRUE!!!!! If you hold it a certain way it can almost completely cut off a call.

Iphone 4 = FAIL

this seems to be just created to save iphone. i use e73 and 3g network this problem never happens. whoever made this video is a big LIAR

@watcha face it dude, you're an apple fanboy who has blindly bought every single apple product for the last 5 years. You know that saying you own even one apple product will ruin any credibility you think you have, so you say you don't own any. I've got news for you, we already know you own 2-4 iPhones, an ipad, and probably 2-3 ipods, not to mention a macbook or desktop. Knowing this already removed your credibility before you removed it yourself by attacking everyone who says Apple is not perfect.

A lawsuit won't achieve anything here. Yet, I think Apple should have included the overpriced rubber band for free. (C'mon $30 for a part that likely costs less than $2 to make!?) Then again, most users are likely to add their own case anyway.

[citation][nom]mcnaugha[/nom]I have the Nokia E71 and I am unable to reproduce the problem. I'm running this year's v4 firmware. No loss of 3G signal no matter how much I cover the back and sides with my palm.[/citation]

Yeah, me too. I just tried right now and I couldn't kill the signal no matter how hard I tried

GUYZ, YER HULDING IT WROOONNGGGGG!!!!!
GUYZ, YER HULDING IT WROOONNGGGGG!!!!!

I don't know what makes me smile more--the fact that Apple deserves this, the fact the fan boys who get a hard on for everything Apple deserve this, or Apple's inane response to it all?
