Cleaned out the fans but laptop still overheats.

I opened up my laptop to clear all the dust out. It wasn't overheating but over time my laptop started heating up more and more. When I inspected it again there was no dust but it still overheats. I used various anti-virus programs but still overheats. Is there a way to stop this overheating without using external fans?

Check to make sure the fan intakes arent blocked when the laptop is in use - best way is to put it on a hard surface like a desk or table instead of your lap/bed/couch/chair.

Then check to make sure the fans are actually running. Sometimes the windows power options will be set to 'passive cooling' which can prevent the fans from running.

Lastly, put something semi-thin (like a CD-case) under the back of the laptop to give more air circulation while you are using it.

And there is a possibility there are other dust-clogged areas that need cleaning and you just cant see them when the laptop is opened.

You need to re-apply thermal paste on your CPU / GPU. This will solve your overheating issues.

So i tried these solutions but still overheats to about 90 degrees. Fan is still running and thermal paste didn't fix the issue.

Are you using Google Chrome? It tends to use a lot of CPU causing it to overheat...

I use firefox but i guess my browser might be a culprit.
