Hi,
So I'm looking to buy another gaming laptop. The wife has kind of taken over the fangbook I bought a few weeks ago. I've been deep into my research over the last few days and have narrowed it down to either Sager/Clevo models or base model of Alienware 15. I don't want to spend more than "around" $1250 USD. Mainly, I want to be confident that I'll be buying something that will last 2-3 years.

Sager/Clevos I'm looking at:
NP8258/Clevo P157SM-A (http://www.xoticpc.com/sager-np8258-clevo-p157sma-eta-331-p-6988.html)
The NP 8268: (http://www.xoticpc.com/sager-np8268-clevo-p150sma-p-6986.html)
Considering: (http://www.xoticpc.com/sager-np8651-clevo-p650se-p-7690.html)
Or
Alienware 15: (http://www.dell.com/us/p/alienware-15/pd)

Other thoughts:
The np8651 would really be overkill for my needs with the gtx 970m, but I believe its a good value/performance compared to the slightly cheaper. It also has screen upgrades possible.
The np8258 and np 8268 look to be completely unsoildered parts, which I personally like. I feel its insurance if something fails in the future. I like the bit of colored swag the keyboard adds.

The AW 15 is something I've personally have always wanted. The reseller ratings scare me a bit, however I think most or all of them are with the older models. I know its flashy, but I think in public or workplace, without the backlighting, it'd be completely acceptable. Its got an M2 slot which I could utilize in the future. I like the keyboard layout of the alienware, cause I dislike those number track pads. Currently I use a separate work laptop simply because of the keyboard layout on my gaming laptop.

Yesterday I was super interested in the sagers, but right now, I'm leaning towards the alienware. I can get a 5% student discount from dell (I'm not a student anymore but can still log in to get it), which almost negates the tax I'd have to pay from dell.

Any thoughts?

For the value, the Sagers/Clevos are a better purchase. However, if you want an Alienware, I would go for it. The difference in performance won't be enormous and you get the brand name and design behind your purchase. Based on your post, you seem to be enthusiastic about the Alienware so I'd say why not splurge a little? :D

Thanks! I actually went ahead and ordered the alienware 15 directly from dell shortly after posting on the forum. You're right, I was excited!
