1. What is your budget?
$1000- $1500. I'd prefer to be closer to $1000.
2. What is the size of the notebook that you are considering?
Doesn't really matter. 14-15.6 is fine. I have a monitor.
3. What screen resolution do you want?
Again not really an issue.
4. Do you need a portable or desktop replacement laptop?
Portable. Weight isn't a big issue unless it's a behemoth. I just have to carry it to class.
5. How much battery life do you need?
3-4 hours. I believe there are outlets in a lot of the classrooms but I'll have to take notes in lecture halls.
6. Do you want to play games with your laptop? If so then please list the games that you want to with the settings that you want for these games. (Low,Medium or High)?
I want to be able play games such as Starcraft 2, Mass Effect 3, Borderlands 2, and Counter Strike. Medium settings are fine as long as they run.
7. What other tasks do you want to do with your laptop? (Photo/Video editing, Etc.)
I will be using engineering software. Also light video editing.
8. How much storage (Hard Drive capacity) do you need?
I have an external hard drive so 500 gb is more than enough.
9. If you are considering specific sites to buy from, please post their links.
10. How long do you want to keep your laptop?
4-5 years.
11. What kind of Optical drive do you need? DVD ROM/Writer,Bluray ROM/Writer,Etc ?
I need a dvd drive but blueray is unnecessary.
12. Please tell us about the brands that you prefer to buy from them and the brands that you don't like and explain the reasons.
I've been looking at Asus, Toshiba, and Sager. I don't want a Dell or HP.
13. What country do you live in?
US
14. Please tell us any additional information if needed.
Every laptop I have found that I think suits my needs gets mixed reviews. I discovered the Malibal Lotus p150hm but I had never even heard of it so I question the reliability. Customizing a Sager laptop on xoticpc.com was yielding laptops in my price range with nice specs, but I'd like a second opinion.
