Quote from CNN: "Margie Martinez of the Weld County Sheriff's Office said a sibling saw Falcon Heene climb into the basket before the balloon took off from his parents' home."

not only the parents should be a bit more aware of what the kid is doing specially since the balloon wasn't indoors for sure, but also they cant expect me to believe a 6 year old boy was capable to set it off and also untie the rope and climb in it and so on and take off that easily if the thing was actually secured the slightest. Cause if a 6 year old can use it so easily then I guess they should actually promote it through this incident. "If our 6year old did it... You all could" cause yeah noone can be that stupid to not be capable, right? Yet again the parents shouldn't be proud of their intelligence.

Dude, im not Spanish nor American but I do have to agree that most dumb and ALSO inresponsible incidents do tend to happen in the US. Dont be shy about it.

"According to the network's Web site, the Heene family "devote their time to scientific experiments that include looking for extraterrestrials and building a research-gathering flying saucer to send into the eye of the storm."

Now we know why the parents are crazy.

Insane people are insane.

Does helium work well with crysis?
Or, does this helium saucer shaped balloon make my butt look big?

The most *publicized* incidents happen in the US. The notion that they are any more dumb, or there are any more of them, in the US, is absurd. Making a case with anecdotal evidence is pretty pathetic. I knew a rapist who went by the online nickname of "manos". Shall I have the police come to your house for questioning?

You know it really is terrible that this happened but it's been on the news for the past few hours straight. Is this really that much more important than Afghanistan and helthcare? Really people?

So if everybody thinks the kid went up in the balloon but he was not there when it came down.... couldn't that mean he fell/jumped out?
[citation][nom]the_one111[/nom]"According to the network's Web site, the Heene family "devote their time to scientific experiments that include looking for extraterrestrials.[/citation]

Or got abducted by aliens.

That would be bad...very very bad.

It's much more important than Afghanistan - you can actually do something about moronic parents.

[citation][nom]eklipz330[/nom]I BLAME THIS ON THE 3D MOVIE UP[/citation]

This. Ban the movie Up. Ban animated movies. Ban hot air balloons. Ban balloons. This has nothing to do with parenting, americans, or being smart/stupid. This has to do with animated movies and balloons. Ban them.

Seriously though, hope the kid is ok.

What an incredible waste of time. I'm glad I heard nothing about it until now. I'm sure the media was disappointed that the boy wasn't killed. What a lame ending. Honestly, I'm disappointed too. I suppose I'll settle for the kid getting the beating of his lifetime instead.

Well, the family was interviewed on CNN and Falcon was asked if he heard his parents. He said yes. He was then asked why he didn't answer and he stated he was told that this was all for show.

Hmm....
