Combine Cisco phone into PC audio output for standard 3.5mm headset

I am looking for a solution that will allow me to consolidate my Cisco 7942 RJ9 to 3.5mm female 'Headset Buddy' and my 3.5mm female out, adding a hardware mute function. I don't need switching (I think) as I will simply mute the audio prior to answering the phone. All 'non-apple' please.

Also, I've spec'd out the Plantronics and Sennheiser solutions, but believe I can find a solution that will work with standard TRRS headset, without the vendor lock in, and much more cost effective than $200+ for an end-to-end solution that will 'age out'.
