command prompt and black screen

Only when playing games whether FB or others in the past month I started getting a black command prompt box that flashes and slows the game for a second. At the same time while playing games or watching videos I get a flash of a black screen for 2 seconds and it goes right back to normal. As far as the command prompt I do NOT have office, so that fix won't work for me. Any ideas?

When was the last time you did some good deep scans for viruses, malware, spyware, etc? I ask because what you describe I have seen with a few of those.

I do them often, this past week being the last. Found nothing.

Tried looking into that. Do not have Nvidia

This is a laptop not a stand alone monitor. Seemed to happen after some windows updates.

If after updates you can try going to "System Restore" (without the quotes) and choose a restore point prior to the start of the problem, then restore the system to that point. It will take time, and rebooting (it will do that on its own) at least once. So make sure the device is charged well before doing this.
