I had this piece of non-working junk for about a year now, and I never bothered excessively trying to fix it.
Looking on it now, it could go on as a second TS admin, so I wouldn't have to ALT+TAB out of my games to mute somebody.
It won't boot.
2/3 of the times, I press the button, it turns blue, then dies on me. Nothing happens. Nothing.
1/3 of the time, I press the button, it turns blue, and stays blue. Nothing happens. No hard drive, no beeps, no signal, nothing.
I'm sorry that I'm not giving much information about the problem; it's just that I don't know. I love diagnosing regular PCs. For a laptop it's different, I can't test individual components.
Can it be the motherboard?
Possibly. If so, it's not worth replacing.
Is it the hard drive?
Why don't I get a POST? It can't be the hard drive...
Is it the display?
No, hard drive isn't spinning.
Is it the CPU?
No, Shouldn't I still get a POST?
Is it the power?
No, It's plugged in directly into the wall, battery or no battery.
Is some power management broken? Internal voltage/power regulators?
Clueless. I'm not sure about the internals of a PC
Is it the RAM?
No, I would get a POST.
I am completely dumbfounded here. No clue whatsoever about what the problem can possibly be...
It's a Compaq Presario F700 I bought 2-3 some years ago. One day last year, it just wouldn't boot, and since that was the time I assembled my gaming PC, I just set it aside, not excessively trying to diagnose the problem. It's been collecting dust ever since...
