Compaq Presario Problem

I'm having problems with my laptop it's making grind noise and when i try to burn something on roxio it won't let me. i haven't been able to burn anything off this laptop anymore.

Grinding noise is the clue -- does it still read disc ? If not, CD/DVD drive has definitely gone west.

then your cd/dvd drive is dying, get a replacement...
