between these two models with the saving this week, in terms of cost which one is the better deal in terms of hardware retail value? (forget the screen differences, but i prefer the uhd)

Secondly, i have a couple questions:
1. Whats the difference between the 860 2gb and 4gb? ive heard both that the 4gb is better cause more dedicated ram and that the 2gb is better because of the maxwell architecture? dont know whos right?
2. For college, would a 256 ssd be enough? How much difference in preformance is it between an ssd and hdd hybrid?

It has SSHD hybrid. A 1TB which will suit perfectly for your college needs.

SSD are faster as well as expensive than normal harddrives HDD and SSHD(hybrid) lies somewhere in between.
SSHD is a combination of HDD + partial SSD. The former model includes SSHD. So you will have faster booting and loading time and ample storage for regular stuff.

Both the GeForce GTX 860M 4GB and the GeForce GTX 860M 2GB have 640 Shader Processing Units. Having the same number of SPUs and using the same architecture means that the performance they offer can be compared by looking at the memory bandwidth, Texture and Pixel Rates. In this case, the two GPUs...

In this case, the two GPUs have extremely similar stats, so any gaming performance difference would most likely be negligible. The two GPUs require the same amount of wattage to run.
The GTX 860M has 2048 MB more video memory than the GTX 860M, so is likely to be much better at displaying game textures at higher resolutions.
