Ok, I thought about buying a new ultrabook as my Asus UX32VD has quite some issues probably related to some part of the hardware. At the same time I cannot get the ultrabook that I really want, and while the technical problems annoy me to no end I guess I'd rather keep this computer than buy one that I'm not happy with. On the other hand over the last few days I ran into a few occasions where a more up to date computer might be beneficial even though my usage is fairly light. Both memory and CPU reached their limit several times. I'm not a techie (well, I am, but not related to computers) and was wondering

is it possible for a computer specialist to eliminate that it's not a damaged connection to the screen that causes the errors I'm seeing?
If this checks out ok would it be possible to pretty much rip everything out, pop in a new motherboard (onboard graphics are sufficient), I guess a i5 6200U processor would be fine, 8 gigs of memory, an SSD, new battery, and a new wifi chip (current one constantly loses connection)? I'm thinking along the lines of available space inside the casing and cooling mainly, but maybe there are more issues.

I'd be willing to pay 1000 pounds or more on a new 13" notebook with a matte screen and nice keyboard. If I could update my computer for the same costs (provided everything runs perfectly) or less I'd be very happy. But is this actually possible with a laptop, provided I find a shop that I trust with this?

Laptops are not really upgradeable like that. The parts inside and configuration and where things are are different from one model to the next. It's very highly unlikely that you would be able to find a motherboard, that is an upgrade from yours, that will fit in the case you have. Laptops are not meant to be built like that with aftermarket items like a desktop can be. If you are REALLY wanting something that meets your specific criteria, there are several companies that allow for custom builds on their basic units with options for CPU, RAM and GPU upgrades depending on base model.

Thanks for confirming. I kind if expected that already. I'll look out for a custom builder though I have the feeling they might be more geared towards gaming machines and not ultrabooks. Or i finally need to let go of either the good matte screen or good keyboard.
