Try starting it up in "Safe Mode" and see if it runs correctly. Granted, you will have limited access, but you can test the freezing, etc. If nothing happens when in "Safe Mode" then you may well have a bad program, malware, virus, etc., on the device that will need removing.

As your computer restarts, press F8 (possibly a few times) to enter "Safe Mode"
a. Press the "F4" key to Enable "Safe Mode".
