Computer freezes or shuts downs and restarts

my desttop keeps freezing up or shuts down and restarts.
Its about a year old have not done anything with it(instill new stuff ect.)
has windows7 toot to best buy they say it might be harddrive. could that be the problem?

Allen Download hardware monitor and serif your CPU temps are ok. If the CPU or gpu is over heating it cause a system shutdown. So will a bad power supply. There are windows error log viewers see what windows is logging for errors. Bad hard drive would cause loss of data or the dreaded no boot device found error.
