Hey.
I wanna basically buy a laptop for its mobility and comfort over PC.
But m confused for what should i buy.?
I want a laptop for gaming and entertainment purpose.
But that laptop should be such that it does not gets outdated for atleast 3-4 years and is able to play all the latest games then.
Suggest me some laptops according to the price category and powerful performance.
Also suggest me if a should go for a PC only instead of laptop or not?
ANd also this graphics card lineup is very confusing,so if u could throw some light on that also.

Solution
Ok, then take this as a suggestion. Do note that no laptop can even grasp what a PC can do:

Are you realistically going to be moving around with a gaming laptop, if that's a need then there's no helping on getting a laptop, but if it's just going to stay on your desk, then get a desktop.

There's simply no competition between both, a desktop let you have much better performance for your money.

Usually what you can do is buy a desktop for gaming and a cheap laptop for mobility reasons (school and such).

Also, you didn't state a budget to work with.

Gaming Laptops are extremely expensive to a Gaming PC equivalent. Its around a ratio 1:3 which means your paying 3x as much so your computer can move around. GPU line up is simple if your talking nvidia, GTX760 is a medium gaming card and a GTX 780 is a monster.

Gaming Laptops aren't really worth it, and anyways the compentents will only be able to play games ultra for 2 years or less since we're going into next gen.

Even when not on a budget, the biggest and the reason why I don't buy laptops because I can add whatever I want. With a laptop, your stuck with it and cannot upgrade it sadly (unless if you do brain surgey to it which will damage it).

If you want a mobility gaming computer than yes, choose a gaming laptop although it might be more expensive. If you don't care about mobility, pick PepitoTV's advice!

The Lenovo Y510p is a popular gaming laptop for under $1000. There are basically two models; one with a 1366x768 resolution screen for $800 and one with a 1920x1080 resolution screen for $950. The higher resolution screen means lower performance in games, but a larger desktop so that you have have multiple windows for easier multitasking. The $800 has the marginally faster nVidia GT 775m while the $950 model has the GT 750m. Both have the same quad core i7-4700mq CPU. The $950 also has a 24GB SSD to help slightly improve the hard drive performance.

http://shop.lenovo.com/us/en/laptops/ideapad/y-series/y510p/

A very simple comparison to the desktop PC parts above:

The i5-4670k has a base clockspeed of 3.4GHz and using Turbo Boost it can overclock itself up to a max of 3.8GHz (if one is used and temps are not too hot). Being a "k" model, you can also overclock the CPU by increasing the multipliers.

The i7-4700mq has a base speed of 2.4GHz and using Turbo Boost it can overclock itself up to a max of 3.4GHz (if one is used and temps are not too hot). The CPU cannot be overclocked by owners at all beyond Turbo Boost. However, it does have Hyper Threading, but the only game that so far benefit from HT is Battlefield 4.

However, the big difference in performance is between the mobile nVidia GT 750m / GT 755m vs the desktop Radeon R9 280x. Based on Notebookcheck.net, the nVidia GT 750m and 755m are both considered to be slower than the Radeon HD 5770. The modern day equivalent (almost equal performance) to the HD 5770 is the Radeon HD 7750.

Notebookcheck
http://www.notebookcheck.net/NVIDIA-GeForce-GT-750M.90245.0.html

Here is a relative performance chart of desktop GPUs. The MSI R9 280X GAMING graphics card is the baseline GPU (100%) and is marginally faster than the reference design R9 280X (97%). The Radeon HD 7750 is also present and it has 28% the performance of the MSI R9 280X.

As I stated earlier, the nVidia GT 750m / GT 755m are both slower than the Radeon HD 5770 / HD 7750. For simplicity let's say it has 25% the performance of the MSI R9 280X. Turn it around and it means the MSI R9 280X is 4 times more powerful than the nVidia GT 750m / 755m.

Hey buddy.
Thanks for ur advice.
Dont take my words as if m offending u.
But actuly m a rookie to all this and i really cannot understand whats the difference between the graphics card's performance.
Also reading ur answer really complicated the things further whether to go for a laptop or a desktop PC.
Coz my requirement is like the laptop should actuly be able to play games for atleast 3-4 years and i dont wanna spend 2500-3000$,So please suggest me does any laptop of my range qualify my criteria or should i go for desktop only?
Also consider my location.I live in india,so could u suggest considering my location...

If you want to buy a single computer to play games for the next 3-4 years, then you want a desktop.

Intel mobile and desktop CPUs of the same generation (like Ivy Bridge and Haswell) more or less have similar performance if both have the same clockspeed. That's assuming they have the same number of cores.

Most games only use 2 cores, but there are some games that can use 4 cores, and very few games that can use more than 4 cores. Getting a quad core CPU is generally better than getting a dual core CPU, but that also increases the price.

Desktop graphics are more powerful than laptop graphics. In the PC build and the Y410p, both are about $1,000 USD. However, the PC build does not include a monitor and the laptop naturally has a screen. Not sure how else to explain that the PC build has a GPU that is 4x more powerful than what is available in the laptop. The GT 750m will have problems playing games at 1920x1080 resolution with anything above low graphic settings. The Radeon R9 280x is powerful enough to play games at high graphic settings.

A desktop can be upgraded. A laptop cannot. If you want better performance in a laptop later, that means you need to buy a new laptop as opposed to replacing the GPU in a desktop.

Hey.
I tried It in my country, but either the product is not available online or the price is very high,
So could u find me a solution for this.

Since I never stepped foot in India I don't know of any online stores other than www.flipkart.com since I have seen many links to it in this forum.

You might want to try a Google search like "Radeon HD 7750 price India" which should give you some links to electronic stores in India.

Okk.
This Config does not include The monitor.
What if i wanna include the monitor in this budget, will this seriously compromise the specs?

if you are dead set on a gaming laptop look into asus ROG laptops. Ive owned 2 in the last 5 years and they have never done me wrong. Asus even has a great warranty program. They replaced my MOBO for free and got it back to me in less than 2 weeks from the day I sent it. That was all after I had already disassembled the laptop myself. That would have voided the warranty anywhere else.

This was the config suggested by one of the members .
And what will the monitor cost?

Yes depending on what you have to downgrade to fit the monitor in your budget.

so if i include the monitor in it,then on which part would i have to compromise?
Also tell me,if i compromise on any part then it would be such that it would be able to play latest games for atleast 2 years,so that afterwards i can purchase a new powerful part.
