My Onkyo TX-V940 Tuner/Amplifier has two Tape jacks in the back with REC and Play, and my Teac 4300 Tape Recorder only has In and out on the back. I am confused as which wire connects these two units. Please help.

OUT from the TEAC 4300, PLAY on the Onkyo.
IN on the 4300, REC on the Onkyo.

And if that does not work, simply swap them. It won't break anything.

Seriously? A Reel-to-Reel? That is so AWESOME! Haven't used one of those since my College DJ days!

I would think that you would want to connect your TEAC output to your Onkyo Play input; though, technically, you could probably connect it to any L/R input.

I never could get Play and Rec inputs down correctly. Been almost 20 years since I last used a tape deck. Damn near robbed the Base Exchange they were selling stereo equipment so cheap. Kenwood receiver and amp, dual tape deck, Five disc CD player and a set of Bose 901s for under $600. 'Course, this was in Germany back in the 90s.

Thanks for your input, @USAFRet !

The BX/AAFES/NAVEX was actually a big testing ground for the audio companies new products.
Lots of young gearheads with not a lot else to spend money on.

Only place I ever saw an Elcaset for sale.
