I have a Dell XPS410 want to get 5.1 sound to my Onkyo TX-SV414Pro receiver. I have the Y jack hook up but its only 2.1 sound. What do I need for better sound keeping costs down? I am open to a new sound cord but clueless as to what type. My receiver has only rca inputs.

Hope this helps my rcvr has no digital or HDMI just RCA. It does have the 5.1 speaker set up. I am hoping to find a way of using a different audio/sound card to hopefully go rca to rca or using the SPDIF output and convert to RCA. I currently have Tape 1 and 2 inputs open. Any suggestions?

Also my receiver is a 5.1 Onkyo it does not have the inputs for surround or center. Not looking for a dramatic improvement just trying to figure out if a different sound card or if there is such a thing SPDIF to RCA converter available would help.

Yes that is the cable unfortunately to my knowledge unless I missed something in the owners manual I did not see any setting, computers were not that popular back in the early 1990's. This is why I am wondering if a sound card might help.

I am not trying to be picky just curious on what my options are. The Onkyo receiver suits my needs for what its worth back when I bought it I read some really good reviews about it. I know the newer models have better options I am just trying to work with what I have.

It outputs 5.1 with everything but the computer. Yes I will get some sound thru the 5.1 set up thru the computer but its not like everything else. I have no idea what you mean by XBMC? If nothing can be done that's okay maybe at some point I will upgrade the receiver but for now I want to use what I have.
