Question Super frustrated trying to connect receiver to tv

I am looking for help in trying to connect my old Onkyo TX-SR605 to the new LG 50UR8000 TV I just got. The Onkyo doesn’t support eArc/ARC, but it does support optical. I have the cables, I just get really confused reading the Onkyo manual because it jumps around everywhere. Would really appreciate any help. Thank you!

I am quickly convinced that we cannot use anything "old" to listen to our new TVs via our stereo systems. I have a 2008 Bose surround system and I can't listen to anything streaming on my 2007 Sony Bravia, and now I have a 2023 Vizio 4K & still can't listen to anything streaming. The eARC seems to be the thing but any stereo system prior to 2009 won't have ARC and prior to 2017 won't have eARC. I am hoping I can just get a new media center for my Bose and keep the acoustimass, and keep the speakers mounted. They still sound great when I watch a DVD!
