connect projector without hdmi cable to laptop that has no vga

Have new laptop that has usb and hdmi slots but no VGA. When went to attach projector - it has no hdmi slot. has a usb slot but not sure if this will display onto large screen from laptop.

You need an active HDMI to VGA adapter, they generally cost $25 at amazon and newegg

Wait what ? What connectors does your projector have ?? VGA DVI ???

You wan´t to plug HDMI to VGA ??? --> With sound support / Cheap no sound support

Are you not sure it´s more a Display Port on the Projector ? USB port is not for Video Streaming as far as I know
