Hi

I intend to build my audio system with Mackie CR3 powered studio monitors and POlk PSW 10 powered sub and hook it up to my MacBook [ having a 3.5 stereo output] . What is the best possible way to connect these three?

I have tried googling for wiring diagrams for similar setup and i am more confused now.

Is there a need for receiver or an external sound card ??

Thanks for your help

Solution
You don't need a receiver or soundcard.
The simplest way is to split the 3.5mm stereo output.

Connect one to the monitors and the other to the subwoofer.
A high pass filter to remove bass from the Mackies would let them play louder and cleaner

I would not go higher than 100 hz.
