connecting 5.1 creative speakers with laptop

hi, i have 5.1 surround sound speakers that were connected to a PC, now i want to connect it to a laptop that has only port unlike the PC which had a soundcard installed for the three ports black white and red, any suggestions to what to do?

assuming you're talking about regular pc speakers here (green, orange, black 3.5mm plugs)

you need an external soundcard with 5.1 support.

you could likely get by with any of the cheaper 5.1 usb soundcards you find.... though i'd personally suggest a half decent one like the creative x-fi 5.1
