Connecting Dell Inspiron E1705 to plasma tv

I hope someone can help me. My old Dell computer, when turned on, it goes into a blank screen, no Dell logo. I believe there's a problem with my computer monitor. Now, how can I connect this old laptop to my plasma tv? My computer has no HDMI port, just vga. As soon as I'm able to do this process, I'll transfer my files to my external hard drive, then get a new laptop.

Then you will need an active adapter to convert the analog VGA signals to the digital HDMI format.
There are many of these adapters available and some even under $10. Some will include audio conversion as well otherwise you will need to listen with headset or your laptops speakers.

Specs says it has DVI so you may be able to run a dvi to HDMI cable. Is HDMI inputs all the TV has?
