I have a HP laptop running Windows 7 and have connected it via a VGA splitter to 2 Acer external displays. Right now, my 2 external displays are cloned (duplicated), while my laptop display is extended. I would ideally like to turn my laptop display off (or extend it a 3rd time) and have the 2 external displays extended to show two different things. How can I do this?

Is this an issue because of the VGA splitter?

Help!

Yes, the splitter can only clone. If you only use 'Business Graphics' then look into a usb graphics adapter.

Solution

Would it work if I ran one through HDMI? And one through VGA?

Check yuor owners manual for the laptop. Some can do it/ some cant.

Which exact model laptop is it (from the sticker on the bottom of the laptop) ?

do you even know if your laptop can run 2 external displays?

havent seen that feature for many laptops, except the mid - high end gaming laptops.

But Hdmi and VGA can run at the same time ;D
