Controlling android phone from pc

how do i control my nexus one from my win7 pc? i download "screencast" (http/code.google.com/p/androidscreencast/) for the pc, but it doesn't seem to work. It's supposed to connect to the nexus one via usb and display the screen. I want to be able to see my phone screen on my pc as a separate windows and control it toanswer texts, browse the net, etc.

Did you follow all the steps?

--> you have to get the Android SDK installed and working first.

--> to control via kb&m you need to have your phone rooted.

Yes, i forgot to mention the following:
I have rooted my phone and flashed CM7-RC2 rom.
I have the Android SDK working as i can flash recovery images to the nexus one via adb.
Whether i use CM6, CM7 or any other rom, i still can't utilize screencast.
