When charger connect to labtop charging light is on but display not on what's the problems

Perform a hard reset first with it. Remove the battery and charger then press and hold the power button for 20 secs. Put them back together then try to turn it back on. If there's still no display, see if you have an available external monitor that you can hook up to it to see if it's just the display because if you wont still see anything on the external monitor it's safe to conclude that it's the motherboard that had gone bad already.
