Cough drop for AKG-C420????

Anybody can point me to schematics of
to "instant silence" switch that won't produce
any audible clicks or pops.

AKG-C420 is phantom powered, but not
true balanced. Pin #3 of XLR connector
is blank.

What if you put a switch between pins 2 and 3, so that 3 is no longer
blank when the switch is closed? This will mute nicely.... I suspect it
will pop, and if it does, try putting a 10uF cap in series with the switch.

The C420L (TA3F 'mini-XLR') has a DC-powered electret capsule. The output
is not balanced, and can be balanced thru the suitable battery supply box
(B29 ?). One pin is NOT left unconnected. Rather two pins are commoned (the
DC and audio from (usually) a radio pocket transmitter, and the other pin is
return/shield.

The XLR version of th C420 has a full phantom-powering balanced XLR adaptor
built in.

If you don't want sibilance and clicks, use the windsheild.
