Dead battery cells replacement?

I have a question. I have a dell xps m1210 with a dead battery with no life left. It's 11.1 volts and 53 watts. Could I replace the 6 dead cells with a 11.1 volts 23 watt battery's cells?

I wouldn't... it might work but since you're going from about 4.8 amps to 2 amps you'll be looking at much shorter run times on battery - you should also check the discharge rate since the smaller battery may overheat drastically if not up to the power demands of the computer
