I absolutely love Lenovo's line of Thinkpads, the appearance and sleek ruggedness caught my eye.

I'm deciding between two models both are Lenovo E450's 14'

8GB RAM / 500 GB HDD
This option I like because of the price, and all it offers. The two cons to me are the screen resolution and the processor. But perhaps on a 14' 1366x768 is just fine. Also, how well does an i5-5200 hold up?:

4GB RAM / 500 GB HDD
This option offers a 1080p display and an i7. But it's also considerably more, and it includes a graphics card, which is nice, but I think battery life is a little more important to me:

For the laptop that I end up getting, I plan on doing mostly school work, lots of multi tab internet browsing, light gaming (CS:GO, Dota 2), Photoshop. I really want it to be speedy. I know down the line, perhaps in a couple of months, I'll be upgrading to a SSD, so right now, HD size doesn't really matter.

Estimable
You'll definitely want to get the i7-powered Thinkpad with a discrete graphics card. The Intel HD Graphics iGPU just won't cut it in the long run, and it's best to futureproof any purchase whenever you have the opportunity. Battery life should not differ substantially between the two, actually.
