Delete "Browser" app

The app "Browser" was installed on my phone and I cannot get rid of it. It took over the search box on the Home screen. It is not listed in Apps or Device Administrator. How do I delete this app?

What kind of phone and OS you have?
How did you install this "Browser" app - manually, or after OS update?

It's a Nexus 5 running Android 6.0.1. It must have been installed manually but I don't remember actually choosing this app so it may have piggybacked on another app if that is possible. IMO there is no reason to load another browser, Chrome works fine.

On older Android versions, "Browser" was the default Internet browser, and Chrome was add-on. So, this might be the case with your Nexus. And if so - you can't delete it.
